The last energon jungle

The jungle is now green and lush and flourished with new colors, mostly green and blue and some purple at night. The energon has strengthened all of what’s still alive. A man jumps from one branch to another and then to the ground and runs, fast; too fast to be enjoying the run. He looks back and gasps but keeps running. Close to him a velociraptor moves as fast as him keeping its attention on the man.

Tree after tree, faster and faster, turn and jump and dodge. The sound of the leaves one after the other and the sticks cracking under the man and the creature weight becomes more and more intense till for one second an open in the canopy of trees fill the face of the man with sunlight and everything slows down. Sun is still the source of all our energy, asd it just makes us feel so damn good. The man closed his eyes for a fraction of a second while he felt the worm on his skin and just like that the moment passed, as fast as the chase. Also the raptor went through that opening but the time kept accelerating, the beast just sparked in blue but the glow was always stronger under the shadow of the trees.

Suddenly he felt something had changed. The wind, the trees or the electromagnetic field shifted slightly and as he kept running from above a synthetic, seemingly human, body took him down and started choking the man as he fought against the inhuman strong machine. It looked somehow like a man but white and silver, with glowing blue eyes and a center also full of energon. The man struggled for a moment but he wasn’t able to get his knife. He just could pick a rock from the ground but as he hitted the metallic head of the humanoid he realized that it was pointless. He only got to say “Kai!” before almost fainting.

And as fast as he saw it, the full head of the droid got ripped off and fell two meters away from them, tweaking and turning off as its eyes stopped glowing.

“Thanks buddy” said the man to the raptor as he standed up again touching his throat.

The beast kept tearing apart the synthetic body spilling the bright blue energon all around the earth.

“Watch out Kai!” said the man as a drop of energon touched his arm releasing some steam as it burned his skin a bit.

“Let’s keep moving. Probably the other two are not far. To the tunnels, now!” he shout to the raptor.

The tunnels were the only places where we still could hide since the EMP under the new trees was too strong even for the newest versions of the symbiants. So there we went and the trees welcomed us. Up on the surface also they played their part because as the energon was spilled the roots of the jungle awoke and started to absorb the precious bright blue fluid.

Nothing could approach when nature was reabsorbing its natural and most full of life power essence. Not us or other natural creatures, neither the sybiants whose veins were full of the same fluid since trees and roots would sense it and fastly surround the synthetic vessels of the symbiants and crush them to extract the energon from them. And that’s what happened the moment the two other sentinels went down to retrieve the valious remaining parts of their squad captain. So as soon as they tried to get what was already being buried by the moving roots the trees moved faster in the presence of more energon.

“Citadel, hel…” and the communication was interrupted by one piercing branch that went through the symbiant central modular core.

The other symbiant went down much faster than its team member as he couldn’t even send a distress signal before being toned apart by thousands of spikes that dragged all of the remaining parts of the three machines as the roots below the ground absorbed all the energon nurturing the whole jungle.

For a moment the tree barks glowed with blue strained as the energon moved along the trunk from tree to tree. It was like a blue beacon that spread its light and dimmed as the whole forest revealed in a new boost of life.

It had been the way that nature found to adapt and survive to the lack of EZ (living) water first and then to the presence of concentrated life force in the form of energon. First it was absorbed by some strong plants, then filtered and then passed to the new forms of life that roamed this new earth. Some mammals survived, but the new and enhanced creatures that we brought back were the ones with the strongest and fastest adapting systems, able to endure the raw power of energon inside their biological systems.

The flora and fauna had changed. Stronger and exuberant and faster and more deadly things roamed one of the last jungles on the planet. This world was not ours anymore, first the machines and then all what came after had far more advantages, true #connection was all what we had left.
